A friend’s reflection reveals more than a looking glass.

Portrait of Holocaust survivor Dina J. by artist Marc Dennis
Haunted by a drawing he encountered during a visit to Yad Vashem, (The Holocaust Remembrance Museum, Jerusalem) painter Marc Dennis continues to ask himself whether he would have possessed passion equal to that of a teenage boy in the Theresienstadt ghetto who risked his life for his artwork. Marc seeks out Morris Wyszogrod, a trusted friend and fellow artist, whose autobiography, A Brush with Death, explores how his artistic skills saved his life numerous times in the midst of the Holocaust.

Marc and Morris meet in New York where they endeavor to paint each other’s portrait. While focused on painting, the two friends words flow effortlessly as they reflect upon their personal histories with the Shoah and their mutual need for creative expression. Mirrors culminates with the revelation of the completed portraits as each man faces how he is seen by the other.
